Analysis by race

Selecting a race

Expand the tree of classes, series and races by clicking on a node. When you get to an individual race the results are shown in the table on the right-hand side of the screen.

If there are enough good performers in the race to meet the quality standards, the data in the table will be in black and the results will be included in the overall statistics for each boat that took had a result, and in the statistics for each type of boat that had a result.

If there are not enough good performers in the race to meet the quality standards, the data in the table will be in red and the results will not be included in the overall statistics for each boat or the statistics for each type of boat.

Meaning of the data in the table

  • Poor performer. If this box is ticked, the boat's corrected time was greater than the standard corrected time plus the poor performance threshold. The boat's performance in this race will be included in its overall statistics and in the statistics for its type, but its corrected time in this race was not used to calculate the standard corrected time.
  • Sail number, Name and Type identify the particular boat.
  • Elapsed Seconds shows the number of seconds from the start of the race until the boat finished.
  • Corrected seconds is the elapsed seconds multiplied by the time correction coefficient (handicap) used in HAL's Race Results to calculate the outcome of the race (TCC Used).
  • TCC Used is the handicap from HAL's Race Results for that boat in that race.
  • TCC achieved is the time correction coefficient actually achieved and is the standard corrected seconds divided by the elapsed seconds.

Excluding the race

Some races may have been held in particularly fluky conditions, or there may have been extensive gear failure on a number of boats. In those circumstances you may wish to exclude the race from the overall statistics by ticking the Exclude this race check box. This has the same effect as if the race had not met the quality conditions.
