HAL Bug 71103 - installation CD does not open automatically
|
|
Versions of HAL's Race Results that exhibit the bug: 7.11 to 7.13 |
|
Symptoms. When the installation CD is inserted into the drive, an error
message appears saying "Run-time error '13': Type mismatch". This
only happens on a small minority of machines, but means that you do not see the
screen giving the option to install the various programs, including HAL's Race Results
itself. |
|
How to reproduce the symptoms. Insert the CD into your computer's drive.
If your computer is susceptible to this bug, the error will appear after a few seconds. |
|
Work-around. Insert the CD and wait for the error message. Click
through the error so that your computer returns to its normal state, with the CD
still in the drive. Open My Computer (Windows Explorer) and right-click
the CD drive. Click Explore to see the CD's contents. Open the
folder named HalsRaceResults. Double click Setup.exe to begin
the installation process. If you have set the Windows option to hide known
file extensions, you will not see anything called Setup.exe, but will see
two items named Setup. Double click the one with a logo that looks
like two sails.
If you wish, you can install the other programs on the CD by opening its other folders
and using the same procedure. Only install Access Runtime if you do not already
have a copy of Access on your computer. Access is a part of the Microsoft
Office Suite, although not all Office installations include it. |
|
Resolution. The problem was corrected in
version 7.14. |
