HAL Bug 71101 - Installing in Windows Vista
|
|
Versions of HAL's Race Results that exhibit the bug: All
before 8.01. |
|
Symptoms. After HAL's Race Results is installed under Windows Vista,
using the default installation location, it fails to remember the activation code.
Although the program can be started and will work while the user is logged on, it
forgets everything once the user logs off. Thus it will ask for the activation
code again and will have forgotten any data that was put in. |
|
How to reproduce the symptoms. Install the program, from either the
CD or the web site, onto a computer running Vista. Use the default settings
during the installation. |
|
Work-around. Install the program in a different place on the hard disc.
If it is installed in the public documents folder (normally at C:\Users\Public)
the program will work correctly. You might care to create a specific subfolder
for it in the public documents folder, for instance at C:\Users\Public\HAL\ |
|
Resolution. Version 8.01 corrects the
problem. |
