Dear HAL's Race Results User
I trust that your sailing season has started well. I take a look at some of your web sites every now and again and can see lots of results pages already. Quite a few of you are also making good use of the Club Results Service, as I can see from the amount of server activity.
In accordance with my policy of keeping you up to date, I am sending you this email telling you how to install the program under Windows Vista and warning of a minor bug to do with emails.
Windows Vista. The program is compatible with the latest Microsoft operating system and can be installed onto a Vista machine either from a CD or by download. However, as you run through the installation routine, you need to change the program's location on your hard disc away from the default one. Details are in a FAQ.
Emails. A problem arises if you put a sequence of email addresses into the Boat Register that is more than 50 characters long. The effect is to generate an error message and to stop you from making series summary reports and from uploading results with HAL's Club Results Service.
More details are posted on the web site at http://www.halsraceresults.com/UG/Issues/HRRBug71104.aspx
The way to avoid the bug is to ensure that you type less than 50 characters into the email box in the Boat Register. Version 7.14 of the program cures the problem. If you wish, you can download version 7.14. As ever, don't forget to make an archive of your data before installing it.
My apologies if you have been inconvenienced by this problem.
Happy sailing,
Peter Hopford
