HAL's Race Results - Scoring Made Easy
Skip Navigation Links.

After each race

Your aim should be to get the results into circulation as soon as possible, so that competitors can see how they stand and any simple mistakes get picked up early.
  • Note the time the race started (not necessarily the scheduled time) and alter the start time in HAL's Race Results if necessary (Race Officer / Choose Races / Change start time).
  • Note the time of the first and last boats to finish. The time of the last boat is used to calculate when protest time ends.
  • Calculate the results and check them carefully.
  • Print both single-race results and the overall series summary for each class on pink paper.
  • Post the printed sheets on a notice board that the competitors have easy access to.
  • Competitors, and their friends and families, appreciate seeing results on the web as soon as possible. You can do this in a few seconds with HAL's Club Results Service, where they will be marked as provisional and can easily be changed if necessary.
  • Once protest time has expired and the race officer and protest committee, or jury, are happy with the results, mark the race as validated (Sailing Administrator / Review by series / Review then set the status to Results validated) and reprint the results on pale green paper.
