HAL's Race Results - Sailing Race Scoring Made Easy

What is the "Time to Win" output?

"Time to Win" is an option in the Club Results Service. It shows the time to win on results pages for individual handicap races before all boats have crossed the finish line, so that you can see which slow boats still have the potential to win when only the faster boats have finished.

The time to win is shown for those boats that currently have no result (marked DNC at this stage). It shows the time by which each such boat would have to finish in order to beat the current leader.

Time to win is most often used in a clubroom environment where the results of a long race are shown on a big screen. Everyone can see which of the boats still sailing has the potential to be the winner.

Do the following to show time to win for your results.

  • Set up your race in the Race Scheduleto show boats that have DNC status. This can be done by setting the Show DNC boats in race resultsswitch to show those in the class.
  • Upload results to the Club Results Service as soon as the first boat has finished.
  • Look at the results in a browser and use the options menu to show time to win.
  • All boats that have no result yet will appear as DNC and the time by which they need to finish will be shown, in green if they can still win and in red if they cannot.
  • As more boats finish, update the results in HAL and upload to the Club Results Service.
