HAL's Race Results Bulletin 3 of 2010

I have today posted a new version of HAL on the web site. To see the changes click here and to download it click here.

The main reason for the new version is that it is very easy at the moment, when entering the results of a handicap race, to alter the date of the finish as well as the time. This leads to a boat having an elapsed time not just of an hour or two, but potentially of several days. The new version gives a warning if the date of the finish is not the same as that of the start. Of couse some races do last for days, so you can ignore the warning if you wish.

I have had several conversations with users that show that the way HAL stores data in the file system is little understood. I have therefore written a couple of FAQ pages about it, one explaining how the system works and one giving recommendations for how to arrange your files.

As always, I greatly value your comments and feedback.

Happy sailing,
Peter Hopford
