HAL's Race Results Bulletin 5 of 2009
I have just posted the latest version (9.14) of HAL Mk.2 on the web site. If you log into HAL as an administrator, you will be invited to download it. Alternatively, you can download it here.
The new features are:
  • All settings are remembered from the previous installation.
  • Print settings (margins and Portrait or Landscape) are remembered separately for each type of printout.
  • There is a new result status - DPI (Discretionary Penalty Imposed - see RRS L16.6). This gives a fixed number of points that can be set by a protest panel, but leaves the boat as a finisher in the race.
  • You can record the wind for each race as a min and max speed, plus direction. If the race officer has set the appropriate values, they are printed at the bottom of each race results output page.
  • Any comments made in the Notes field against individual races in the Race Schedule page are printed at the bottom of series results. This might include an explanation of why a race was cancelled, for instance.
  • There is better tracking of when series have been updated and need uploading to the Club Results Service.

It fixes the following bugs in 9.13

  • Tandem races were not properly removed once the real race they derive from is deleted.
  • Values in Excel spreadsheets that have brackets around them (e.g. discarded points scores in series results) were interpreted as negative numbers.
  • The Boat Register sometimes used to change the type of boat unexpectedly, especially if the register were sorted by type.
  • There were intermittent errors when uploading files to HAL's Club Results Service.

There has been no change to HAL Mk.1.

Happy sailing,
Peter Hopford
